Dapitan

Rizal's city of exile — a national-hero shrine, Dakak's white cove, a beachside theme park and deep Philippine history.

About Dapitan

The shrine city of a national hero

Dapitan is where José Rizal, the Philippines' national hero, spent four years of exile — and instead of wasting them, he founded a school, a hospital, a water system and mapped the town. The Rizal Shrine preserves that story. Around it: Dakak's famous white-sand cove, the beachfront Fantasyland theme park, colonial churches and a relaxed northern Mindanao pace that surprises most travelers.
