Coconut palms and turquoise water along Bohol's coast

Where to Stay in Bohol: Panglao, Anda or the Countryside

Bohol destination guide

Panglao's beach strip, Anda's quiet coves or the riverside interior — how to choose your Bohol base.

Panglao: the default base

Alona Beach on Panglao island is Bohol's tourism center: dive shops, island-hopping boats to Balicasag, restaurants and a wide range of resorts. It is the practical choice for most visitors, with the airport and Tagbilaran's ferries both close by.

Anda: the quiet side

Anda, on Bohol's eastern coast, trades convenience for calm: white-sand coves, cliffside resorts and far fewer crowds. It works best for travelers whose priority is a slow beach week, accepting longer drives to the island's inland sights.

The riverside interior

Staying near Loboc or along the Loboc River puts you inside the green countryside, close to the Chocolate Hills and the river cruise. Lodging is more limited and often lodge-style, and you will still drive to the coast for diving and island trips.

Tagbilaran and when it makes sense

Tagbilaran city is mainly a transit point, but a night there can make sense around late ferry arrivals or early departures. For anything longer, base on Panglao, Anda or the interior instead and treat the city as a waypoint.

Common questions

Is it better to stay on Panglao or main Bohol?▾

Panglao for most trips: it has the widest choice of stays, the diving and island-hopping, and quick access to the airport and ferries. Main-island bases like Loboc suit travelers focused on the Chocolate Hills and countryside.

How many days do you need in Bohol?▾

Three to four days cover the countryside tour, Panglao's beaches and a dive or island day comfortably. Add a night in Anda if quiet coves are the reason you came.

Is Anda too far from Bohol's sights?▾

Anda is a real drive from Tagbilaran and the Chocolate Hills, so day trips take planning. It is the right trade-off for travelers who want quiet beaches more than convenience.
