Bangka boat crossing toward Boracay island

How to Get to Boracay: Caticlan, Kalibo and the Ferry Crossing

Boracay destination guide

Caticlan or Kalibo, the short boat crossing and the tricycle to your station — the complete route to Boracay, step by step.

Flying in: Caticlan or Kalibo

Caticlan (MPH) is the close airport, minutes from the jetty port, but its short runway limits aircraft size and fares run higher. Kalibo (KLO), about two hours away by road, often has cheaper flights and wider availability from Manila and Cebu. Choose Caticlan to save time, Kalibo to save money.

The crossing to the island

From Caticlan's jetty port, Bangka ferries make the brief crossing to Cagban Port on Boracay throughout the day. Expect separate fees at the port: terminal and environmental charges are collected in cash, so arrive with small bills rather than relying on cards.

From the port to your station

Cagban Port sits a short tricycle ride from White Beach, and the island's tricycle drivers use a zone-based fare structure that ends at your station or hotel gate. Confirm the rate before riding, and keep luggage tight — the lanes near the stations are narrow.

Practical tips

Book flights and, in peak season, ferry seats in advance, since holidays sell out the route. Weather occasionally pauses the crossing, so a same-day flight-to-ferry connection is a risk — leave an hour of slack between the two.

Common questions

Which airport is better for Boracay, Caticlan or Kalibo?▾

Caticlan, if you value time: it is minutes from the ferry. Kalibo usually wins on price and flight availability, at the cost of a roughly two-hour land transfer to the port.

How long is the ferry to Boracay?▾

The Caticlan-to-Boracay crossing takes around 10 to 15 minutes, plus time for port fees and boarding. Boats run through the day, with reduced frequency in bad weather.

Can you fly directly to Boracay?▾

No. Boracay has no airport; you fly to Caticlan or Kalibo on Panay island and finish with a short road transfer and the boat crossing.
